METALS & JEWELRY CARE
925 STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver is a precious metal made of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% alloy for added strength and durability.
It may naturally tarnish over time but can be easily restored with polishing. Sterling silver is best worn regularly, as daily wear can help slow down tarnishing. With proper care, sterling silver can stay beautiful for many years.
Maintenance and storage
Silver wipes or silver dip. Clean after use. Store in a dry and sealed pouch.
SOLID GOLD
Solid gold is a precious metal made entirely of gold alloy. It is durable, rarely tarnish, and designed to last for generations with proper care.
Karat Guide:
10K — 41.7% pure gold, strong and durable
14K — 58.5% pure gold, ideal balance of durability and rich gold colour
18K — 75% pure gold, richer in colour and higher in gold content.
Maintenance and storage
Polishing cloths and gold cleaners. Store in dry storage.
GOLD FILLED
Gold filled jewelry is made to the U.S. standard, with a thick layer of gold that makes up at least 5% of the total weight, heat and pressure bonded to a 95% brass core.
It is durable, long-lasting, tarnish-resistant, and a great option for everyday wear.
The gold layer will fade over time. When worn as permanent jewelry, noticeable wear and fading may begin around the 1.5 year to 2 year mark, depending on lifestyle, friction, and care.
Maintenance and storage
Use polishing cloths, occasionally clean with dish soap & water with a soft brush to remove grease and oil build up.
GOLD VERMEIL
Gold vermeil is made with a sterling silver core coated in a thick layer of gold, typically at least 2.5 microns thick.
It offers the look of solid gold with the added value of precious sterling silver underneath. Durable and beautiful for everyday wear, but like all plated finishes, the gold layer may gradually fade over time depending on wear and care.
We do not use this for permanent jewelry.
Maintenance and storage
Polishing cloth after use, store in a dry and sealed pouch.
General Jewelry Care
Follow the last on, first off rule. Put your jewelry on after lotions, perfumes, and beauty products, and remove it before bed, bathing, or strenuous activity.
Gently wipe with a polishing cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue. For best results, store jewelry in a dry, sealed pouch when not in use to help protect its finish and reduce tarnishing.
