Gold vermeil is a thick layer of gold applied over sterling silver (2.5 microns). To keep it looking beautiful:
- Avoid contact with water, perfume, lotions, hairspray and cleaning products.
- Remove before showering, swimming, exercising or sleeping.
- After wearing, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth.
- Store separately in a sealed pouch or jewelry box in a cool, dry place.
- Minimize use of polishing cloths or chemical cleaners, as they may remove the gold layer.
With regular wear, the gold finish will naturally soften and fade over time, revealing the sterling silver underneath. This is a normal characteristic of gold vermeil. Made over precious metal, sterling silver, which retains value over time.
Jewelry Care
Follow the last on, first off rule. Put your jewelry on after lotions, perfumes, and beauty products, and remove it before bed, bathing, or strenuous activity.
Gently wipe with a polishing cloth after each wear to remove oils and residue. For best results, store jewelry in a dry, sealed pouch when not in use to help protect its finish and reduce tarnishing.
